On May 18, 2025, Tony Stewart clinched his second Top Fuel victory of the season at the Gerber Collision & Glass Route 66 NHRA Nationals at Route 66 Raceway in Chicago. Stewart, driving his Rinnai dragster, defeated Justin Ashley in the final round with a time of 3.762 seconds. Earlier in the semifinals, Stewart outperformed Steve Torrence, who experienced tire smoke, allowing Stewart to advance. Shawn Langdon maintained his championship lead with a 3.733-second run against Kyle Wurtzel, narrowing the points gap with Stewart, who trailed by 60 points entering the race. In Funny Car, Austin Prock regained the points lead with a 3.889-second run but lost to Chad Green’s 3.866. The event, the sixth of 20 in the NHRA Mission Foods Pro series, also featured Pro Stock Motorcycle and other categories, marking NHRA’s 25th anniversary at the venue.
