Sweden announced the establishment of a rehabilitation center for injured Ukrainian soldiers, marking a significant step in its ongoing support for Ukraine. The Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency, under the direction of Minister for Civil Defence Carl-Oskar Bohlin, has been tasked with setting up the facility, with initial operations beginning in late 2025. The decision follows Sweden’s support for Ukraine since 2024, with the center expected to serve approximately 200 soldiers annually, focusing on physical and psychological recovery. The government allocated SEK 150 million for the project’s first phase, with plans to expand capacity based on need. The center will be located in Uppsala, a city with existing medical infrastructure, and will employ 45 staff members, including specialists in trauma care. This initiative aligns with Sweden’s broader commitment to international cooperation, as evidenced by its participation in the Ukraine Recovery Conference held in Rome on July 10, 2025, where Minister for EU Affairs Jessica Rosencrantz led a delegation. The project includes partnerships with Ukrainian medical teams, with 12 specialists already trained in Sweden. Construction is underway, with a target completion date of March 2026, and the center aims to integrate advanced rehabilitation technologies, supported by a SEK 30 million investment in equipment. www.34news.online
