Barcelona Wine Week (BWW) concluded its fifth edition, setting new records and reinforcing its role as a key platform for Spanish wine exports. Held from February 3 to 5 at Fira de Barcelona, the event attracted 25,700 industry professionals, with 20% from international markets, including the United States, Canada, Germany, the United Kingdom, China, Mexico, Japan, Brazil, Colombia, and South Korea. The exhibition featured 1,266 wineries from 81 Designations of Origin, occupying two halls for the first time, reflecting its growth. Over the three days, BWW facilitated 13,000 business meetings, connecting exhibitors with 1,000 major national distributors and 770 strategic importers. The event generated €17 million in business opportunities, serving 360,000 glasses of wine during tastings led by 70 experts, including sommeliers and Masters of Wine. Key regions represented included Ribera del Duero, Rioja, Priorat, and Cava, with additional participation from Rías Baixas, Navarra, Rueda, Montsant, Mallorca, Penedès, and Jumilla. The event’s success led to plans for the 2026 edition, scheduled for February 2 to 4, maintaining the two-hall format. Collaboration with ICEX España Exportación e Inversiones enhanced the event’s focus on global market penetration, with Javier Pagés, president of BWW and D.O. Cava, noting its status as the premier commercial showcase for Spanish wine.
