Beatriz Neila of Ampito Crescent Yamaha showcased a strong performance during the opening practice session for the Women’s Circuit Racing World Championship (WCR) at Donington Park, marking the seventh round of the 2025 season. Neila, who clinched her first pole position earlier in the day with a lap time of 1’39.687, topped the practice session with consistent lap times, finishing ahead of her competitors. The session, held as part of the broader WorldSBK event, saw 24 riders participate, all competing on Yamaha YZF-R7 motorcycles. Neila’s practice performance followed recent adjustments to her bike, which she credited for improving her lap times after morning sessions. María Herrera, leading the championship with 90 points from two victories in four races, finished second in practice, trailing Neila by 0.5 seconds. Roberta Ponziani placed third, 0.8 seconds behind Neila, maintaining her position as a contender with 69 points. The practice session, lasting from 10:40 to 11:05 CEST, included 15 minutes of free practice, with data from over 300 laps recorded. The event marks the third round of the WCR season, following races at Assen and Cremona, and sets the stage for Saturday’s Race 1. Additional practice and qualifying sessions are scheduled, with Superpole set for 15:10 to 15:35 CEST on July 12, and Race 1 at 13:20 CEST. The championship, in its second year, continues to feature a competitive field, with Neila’s performance signaling her intent to challenge Herrera’s lead.
