On May 12, 2025, Alex Palou of Chip Ganassi Racing clinched his fourth victory in five races during the 2025 NTT IndyCar Series season at the Sonsio Grand Prix, held at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course. Palou overtook Graham Rahal in the closing laps of the 85-lap race, securing his third consecutive win at this event. Pato O’Ward finished second, matching his best result of the season, while Rahal, who led for more than half the race, settled for third. Palou’s average finish after five races stands at an impressive 1.2, a feat not seen since 2006 when a driver won four of the first five races. Team Penske also moved ahead of Arrow McLaren in the team championship standings, taking second place. The race saw a late caution due to David Malukas hitting the grass, the first since Lap 1.
