Nikon Corporation officially released the Nikon Z5II, a full-frame mirrorless camera under the Nikon Z mount, marking an upgrade to its predecessor with improved performance for photographers. The Z5II, announced earlier this week, features a 24.3-megapixel CMOS sensor paired with the EXPEED 6 image-processing engine, offering enhanced low-light capabilities with an ISO range expandable to 102,400. The camera delivers a 5-axis in-body image stabilization (IBIS) system, providing up to 5 stops of compensation, and supports continuous shooting at 4.5 frames per second. It includes a 3.2-inch tilting touchscreen LCD with 1.04 million dots and a 3.69-million-dot electronic viewfinder, improving visibility for diverse shooting conditions. The Z5II introduces dual card slots, supporting one CFexpress Type B and one SD UHS-II card, a significant upgrade from the single-slot design of the original Z5. Nikon also enhanced the autofocus system, offering 273 focus points with improved subject detection for humans, animals, and vehicles, covering 90% of the frame. The camera’s battery life extends to approximately 470 shots per charge with the EN-EL15c battery. Priced at an estimated $1,996.95 for the body-only version, the Z5II is available for pre-order with shipping expected to begin in late August 2025. This release aligns with Nikon’s ongoing efforts to expand its Z-series lineup, catering to both amateur and enthusiast photographers.
