The event included demonstration rides on boats equipped with the new engine, showcasing its capabilities to an estimated 50 industry professionals and enthusiasts. This launch follows Mercury Racing’s recent expansion of its Verado lineup, with the 500R positioned as a flagship model for speed and efficiency. The engine is compatible with a range of boats, including Interceptor Custom Boats’ latest 28 GTD Performance deckboat, which was delivered on August 10, 2025, powered by a pair of 500R outboards. This delivery marks the first commercial application of the engine, featuring a sleek low-profile design and dual-engine setup. Additionally, the 500R’s introduction aligns with preparations for the Desert Storm Poker Run, where Eliminator Boats’ new 306 Speedster, recently delivered to owners Bobby and Meagan Siana, will highlight the engine’s performance.
